Each with square section base and knopped baluster stem below a vase-shaped nozzle, with gadrooned borders, shell and lattice engraving, later engraved with two crests with earl's coronet above, each with later associated drip pan, with mark of William Stroud, London 1804, marked to underneath

The crests are those of Byng, for John, 1st Earl of Strafford G.C.B. (1772-1860).

Lot Essay

A set of six matching candlesticks by Edward Feline, London, 1746, which orginally formed part of the set of twelve listed in the 1847 Garrards inventory, were sold in Two Regency Collectors, Philip John MIles and George Byng 1815-45, Christie's, London, 9 June 2005, lot 28.
