A LARGE SHIWAN-GLAZED POTTERY FIGURE OF A SEATED COURT OFFICIAL
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The well-modeled figure is seated in a chair on a plinth with an inscription in three sections: fugu (return to the ancients), Pubao xiang (Pubao Lane) and Tongfu tang jing feng (present with respect by the Hall of Joint Fortune). He wears a loose, green-glazed belted robe. His face is pierced and threaded with strands of natural hair beneath an elaborate headdress. The glaze is a streaked, blue-green tone with ochre and brown accents.
