拍品專文

As one of the most prominent figures in the group of young Chinese artists that led the post ’89 Cynical Realism movement, Wang Jinsong has been long acknowledged for his diversified oeuvre that effectively conveys contemporary issues of modern China. In 1987, Wang graduated from Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts in Hangzhou with training in Chinese painting. Among his wide selection of mediums such as photography, videography, installation and oil painting, he is particularly adept in his first medium of ink paintings. The lot, Ink Figure No. 67, is a part of his Ink Figure series that he produced later in his career. The series features subjects caught in motion of everyday actions that are commonly seen in China. In the work, Wang employs a monochromatic, subdued color palette to complement the smooth motion of the subject performing Tai-chi, a Chinese martial art form.
