拍品專文

Born into the famous Xu family of Yixing, Xu Daming (1952-2016) was the oldest son of Xu Hantang and nephew of Xu Xiutang (maker of lots 6 and 50). His mother was Wang Tingmei (maker of lot 62) who made miniature teapots. He often corroborated with his wife Wang Xiufang (B. 1954), see lot 9. Xu Daming was also trained earlier in carpentry and was noted for his ability to merge wood with Yixing clay.

A teapot of very similar design by Xu Daming is illustrated in Selected Works of Contemporary Yixing Potters, Hong Kong, 1994, p. 37, no. 21.
