The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In addition to the catalogue entry:
- some yellow stains on the limestone near the lower edge of the panel
- one tiny brown dot in the stone collar
- some dried spots of liquid across the bronze in the lower half of the image.
- on the reverse, adhesive around the hanging baton at the upper edge (possibly as issued)
- a thin line of adhesive at the upper edge of the overlap
