The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In addition to the catalogue description, each with full margins, surface soiling and soft creases in places (primarily in the margins), occasional pinpoint foxmarks in places, adhesive remains along the reverse upper sheet edge (with associated skinning in places, slightly showing through at the extreme upper sheet edge), and other lesser defects, with an additional text page

I (G. M. 55b): three scuffs to the right of the photograph, hinge remains in places on the reverse sheet edges

III (G. M. 55d): an area of discoloration in the left margin, hinge remains in places on the reverse sheet edges

IV (G. M. 55e): a soft horizontal crease along the upper sheet edge, a ¹⁄₄-in. tear at the lower sheet edge (slightly affecting the signature), hinge remains in places on the reverse sheet edges (not showing through)

VIII (G. M. 55i): an area of discoloration at the upper sheet edge, an area of discoloration in the right margin

IX (G. M. 55j): signed upside-down

X (G. M. 55k): hinge remains in places on the reverse sheet edges (not showing through)

XI (G. M. 55i): an area of discoloration in the left margin

XII (G. M. 55m): hinge remains in places on the reverse sheet edges (not showing through)

XIII (G. M. 55n): a ¹⁄₈-in. tear at the right sheet edge

XV (G. M. 55p): hinge remains in places on the reverse sheet edges (not showing through)
