The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

In addition to or in elaboration of the catalogue entry:
- the full sheet, with a deckle edge at left and right
- pale toning at sheet edges
- pale light-staining and occasional, unobtrusive foxmarks
- a soft, flattened fold at the tip of the lower right corner
- a 1-mm. nick at the lower sheet edge in the margin
- remains of old hinges along the margins on the reverse
