Lot Essay

Including: Charles Hinman, Untitled; Will Insley, Untitled; Robert Indiana,The Bowery Art

These prints were created by artists who lived or worked in studios on the Bowery in Manhattan’s Lower East Side during the 1960s. In 1971 a landmark artist portfolio was conceived with a total of ten prints by ten different artists. This lot contains three brilliant prints by Charles Hinman, Will Insley, and Robert Indiana. Each artist conjured abstract visions from their shared experience from living and working in the area. Hinman and Insley even lived in the same building at 231A Bowery for fifty years.
