In presenting Contemporary Silver: A Selling Exhibition, Christie’s is delighted to have the opportunity to work with Contemporary British Silversmiths, and to highlight the craftsmanship of 61 of the United Kingdom’s most talented silversmiths. This fixed-price sale showcases 186 pieces of contemporary silver, some created specifically for Christie’s, which have been crafted using a variety of processes, from the traditional methods of raising and hammering to modern computer-aided techniques. Among the silversmiths who have contributed to this sale are many represented in prestigious UK and international collections, such as the Goldsmiths’ Company and the Victoria and Albert Museum, as well as the Silver Trust’s own collection, comprising an extraordinary grouping of contemporary British silver which is on permanent loan to 10 Downing Street.
Contemporary Silver: A Selling Exhibition will be on view to the public at Christie’s King Street salerooms in London from 29 July through to 5 September 2013, alongside works loaned from The Silver Trust collection, with the sale opening exclusively online on 6 August. With prices starting at £570, don’t miss this opportunity to bring a unique piece of the silversmiths’ art into your home or office.
