Decorated in gold, silver, black and red hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi sumi-e, kirikane, kimpun, gimpun, and uchikomi against a gold ground, depicting various views of the Nikko Toshogu Shrine, including the Yomei-mon Gate, Mihashi Bridge and a five-storey pagoda, the hinged door opening to reveal three drawers containing two smaller incense boxes and a tray decorated with various views of the Kegon waterfall with its vertiginous descent of some 250 feet, nashiji interiors, engraved silver fitings
