Decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, kirikane, kimpun, gimpun and uchikomi with a portable chest (oi) beside a maple tree, the edges of the box in black lacquer with stylised chrysanthemums amidst karakusa scrolls in gold hiramaki-e, the interior finely decorated against a rich nashiji ground with three geese beside a river lined with jakugo (stone-filled baskets to prevent erosion), surrounded by foliage and an old pine tree, three further geese descending overhead, the inner tray similarly decorated with threeleaf arrowheads (omodaka), rocks and grasses, fitted with a slate inkstone to the interior and silvered-copper water dropper in the form of a zither (koto)
