Decorated in the style of Ogata Korin in gold hiramaki-e and inlays of lead and mother-of-pearl against a matt fundame ground with hirame, with branches of a gnarled plum tree, the interior with a profusion of stylised bell flowers, bush clover and pampas grass in gold hiramaki-e and takamaki-e, fundame rims, the underside of the base with signature Hokkyo Korin and with a kakihan, fitted with a slate inkstone and silver water dropper, the interior with fitted compartment containing a paper knife
