The first decorated in Rimpa style with mother-of-pearl and lead inlays, gold hiramaki-e, kimpun and gold foil on a black lacquer ground with a rainbow arching over rolling hills of pine; fundame interiors, risers and rims, attached netsuke with shogi pieces (koma) pawn (fu) and rook (hi), the promoted ranks dragon king (ryu-o) and promoted pawn (tokin) to verso

The second in Korin style decorated with mother-of-pearl and lead inlays, hirame, and gold foil on a gold lacquer ground, with a stylised flowering branch, with added inscription inside the top case Hokkyo Korin zo (made by Hokkyo Korin), fundame interiors. risers and rims; attached cherrywood netsuke of a rabbit with its young, eyes inlaid in dark cowhorn, copper ojime with gilt details of an orchid and peony blossom

The third decorated in Rimpa style in gold takamaki-e with inlays of mother-of-pearl and lead against a black lacquer ground, with a large stylised iris, black lacquer interiors and risers, fundame rims, attached cherrywood netsuke of a kabuki theatre chanter, marble ojime
