The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The binding has been restored by Shepherds since the sale in 2010. The original leather having decayed, the volume was given a new calf spine and corners, preserving the original red morocco spine label. The original green cloth covers, the front cover stamped 'M.C.C.' in gilt, are likewise preserved, with the original endpapers.

1872: L4 and L5 (pp. 168-169) of 1872 adhering together, affecting legibility at end of lines on p. 168 and at beginning of lines on p. 169, L5 and L6 cropped at bottom margin, causing partial loss of final line on L5 recto and verso (pp. 169-170).
1874: F1 recto (p. 81) close cropped with loss of catch-letter.
1875: N7 recto (p. 205) cut close to bottom line but without loss.

Generally good, clean copies in the M.C.C. Library until 2010.
