The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
- There are a few small areas of losses and surface chips along the rims, primarily along the mouth rim, which have been sensitively restored, some areas appear to have been recarved
- There are a few expected thin age cracks along the rims, some of which have been stabilised
- There may be a few minor areas on the exterior which have been restored with overpainting
- The mount and the base have been replaced, as can be expected from a brush pot of this age. The mount appears to be huali and base zitan.
