Lot Essay

The recipient of this painting is Liu Yiling (1903-1994). He graduated from Meizhou Secondary School and later entered Fudan University. He befriended Chen Shuren's son Chen Fu and was hired as his secretary and assigned to work in Burma and India for the Kuomintang. He returned to Hong Kong in 1954 and engaged in evangelism work, participating in the editing of many religious magazines. During that period, he had a lot of contacts among the literary and artistic circles, including Zhao Shao'ang, who gifted this work to him.
