Lot Essay

Xiang Hanping, alternatively known as Mo Lin, was born in Hepu, Guangdong (present-day Pubei, Guangxi) and moved to Hong Kong in 1949. While serving as Lieutenant General in the Republic of China Army, he was also passionate about calligraphy and poetry. He had close relationships with the literati and developed a rich collection of calligraphy spanning from the Song to Ming dynasty.

Yanshan, officially known as Li Yaochen (1898-1961), was a renowned painter, calligrapher and poet. He was also an dedicated art pedagogist and connoisseur.
