Gao Xingjian is a Chinese French novelist, playwright and painter who in 2000 was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. Before establishing his career in translating and writing, he studied painting, sculpture and calligraphy under the guidance of his father. He has never stopped his practice ever since. His paintings have been exhibited in multiple renowned art institutions worldwide, and are featured in collections of Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Musée Guimet, Paris, Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, and University Museum and Art Gallery of Hong Kong University.
