Lot Essay

Huang Baowu, alternatively known as Ainong, was born in Changle, Fujian. He successively served as the inaugural Director of the First Provincial Library, Professor at Shanghai Art Academy and editor at the Commercial Press. He specialized in clerical script calligraphy, absorbing the essence of Han Dynasty stone inscription. Meanwhile, he painted mainly landscapes, occasionally flowers, in an effortless and simple style.
