Guilin-born, Beijing-based Pu Sheng graduated from the School of Chinese Painting at the Guangxi Arts Institute and worked as an editor for an acclaimed art journal on ink art. Creating works that are minute in size but packed with moving details, Pu takes inspiration from his childhood memories of growing up in his father’s orchard as well as the motifs found in traditional paintings. At times revealing his heartfelt longing to return to his hometown and imparting an eagerness to reside in the secluded woods, Pu’s paintings are humble and serene.
