This rather rustic figure is really a caricature of an Alchemist. While the horse's and the human skull hint at dark practices, the scorpion seems a rather pointless ingredient to be thrown into the melting pot and the fanciful reptile that hangs suspended from the ceiling is more amusing than it is threatening.
