A COMPLETE INDIVIDUAL OF THE TAZA METEORITE (NWA 859)
DISCOVERED IN NORTHWEST AFRICA, 2001
A very good example of this iron meteorite, covered with regmaglypts (thumb prints) formed from frictional heating of the surface and scouring by turbulent eddies of air that the sample encountered during atmospheric passage. On side is cleaved with texture suggestive of a fracture pre-impact, and another features a rarely seen natural hole.
3¼ x 3 x 2¾in. (7.8 x 7.3 x 6.7cm.)
