COMPLETE SLICE OF A MESOSIDERITE (NWA 8402)
DISCOVERED IN NORTHWEST AFRICA, 2014; MODERN CUTTING
This specimen of the NWA 8402 has a relatively high abundance of the mineral plagioclase. Most of the metal occurs in millimeter-size globules although small grains are present throughout the sample; crystals of olivine provide further accents. This is one of the very few samples of this meteorite to be available to the private collectors as the main mass will soon be on permanent display at the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum
