COMPLETE SLICE OF WILLAMETTE METEORITE
FOUND IN OREGON IN 1902; MODERN CUTTING
This zoomorphic-shaped specimen is available as a result of an exchange with the American Museum for an exotic specimen of the planet Mars. This is one of the few complete slices of the Willamette meteorite that will ever be available; there exists an agreement with the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde that the Willamette meteorite will never again be cut. Willamette’s signature recrystallized pattern is in evidence along with another rarity, a naturally formed hole, the result of weathered-out iron sulfide. This is a superior example of one of the world's most famous meteorites.
5½ x 3¼in. (14.3 x 8.4 0.2cm.)
