THE MAIN MASS OF AN IMPACT-MELT BRECCIA (NWA 10147)
DISCOVERED IN NORTHWEST AFRICA, 2015; MODERN CUTTING
This specimen underwent extensive shocking in outer space, the result of which was the melting of much of its mass. Surviving relic portions of the original target mass are seen on both the cut face and specimen’s external surface, which also features patches of fusion crust. The well-differentiated character of NWA 10147’s two primary components results in the singular record of a cataclysmic encounter in outer space. As the main mass, this is the largest portion of this engaging material. Supported on fitted stand within a Lucite display case.
