Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
Oil on canvas. Not examined out of the frame. Not lined. Not varnished. A faint, horizontal line of tiny pinpoint pigment losses towards the lower centre edge corresponding to the underlying stretcher bar. A few further tiny pinpoint pigment losses at the lower corners and at the extreme edges. Fine lines of drying craquelure to the brown pigment of the figure, due to the artists technique. A few further isolated fine lines of craquelure, in the pink, white and green pigments. Examined under ultra-violet light: nothing shows. Subject to the foregoing, it is our opinion that the work appears to be in generally very good condition.
