Condition report
A Christie's specialist may contact you to discuss this lot or to notify you if the condition changes prior to the sale.
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.
The board is structurally sound and generally even. There is slight rubbing in places to the grey pigment at the extreme edges, with an associated pinpoint loss to the extreme lower right corner. There are a few scattered linear surface abrasions, only visible under raking light, and a few soft handling marks to the centre of the upper horizontal edge. When examined under ultraviolet light, there are a few minute lines to the lower horizontal edge, and a small passage to the second inner red and blue bands in the upper left corner, which fluoresce in a manner consistent with inpainting. Subject to the foregoing, it is our view that the work appears to be in generally good condition.
