The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The original canvas has been relatively recently re-lined and as such maintains a good tension and remains structurally stable. There is evidence of surface abrasion and strengthening of thin, dark glazes though the integrity of the artist’s painterly technique remains evident with much of the important modelling and detail well preserved.
Ultra-violet fluorescence examination confirms the density of the aged varnish and reveals restoration near the edges, and smaller, scattered retouching.
