The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas is relined, it has an even tension and remains structurally sound. It remains stable. The varnish presents a surface gloss. Some of the dark glazes appears to have thinned [eg. the background]. Ultra-violet fluorescence examination confirms the density of the aged varnish which possible impaires a reading of any restoration. There are a few surface scratches to the lower half of the painting (as visible in the catalogue illustration).
