The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

There are slight deformations at both upper corners and the lower right of the copper panel. There are a few small losses near the edge of the composition, eg, to the foreground in the lower right corner. There is some slight evidence of the pigment contracting in the mantle of the Virgin, centre left. Examination under ultra violet reveals retouching to the two dark clouds near the upper edge and to the grey cloud to the immediate right of the Annunciating angel. There is some very minor retouching elsewhere.
