The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The canvas has been relined and retains a good tension on its support. The textured brushwork of the artist remains highly appreciable. There are some scattered retouchings, predominantly to areas in the upper third of the canvas, including to a section of the forehead and below the right eye of the Magdalene, that are visible to the naked eye and these are confirmed with inspection under ultra violet light. There are some minor infilled retouchings to the craqueleure of the skin tones. The giltwood frame is in good condition.
