Lot Essay

At the time of the 1997 sale, an alternative attribution to Fabio Canal (Venice 1703-1767) was proposed by Professor Lina Urban Padoan, who compared the picture to Canal's modello for the ceiling of the Chiesa dei SS. Apostoli, Venice.
