Lot Essay

Walton Bridge spans the Thames near Weybridge, Surrey. Originally built between 1748 and 1750, it was made famous by Canaletto's 1754 view. The original bridge was demolished in early 1783 and replaced by a stone one designed by Thomas Sandby (1721-1798), seen here.
