Lot Essay

The present drawing is perhaps a study for the watercolour in the Victoria and Albert Museum, in which the artist's viewpoint is slightly further away. There is also a grey and brown wash study which relates to these works in the collection of the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, both of these related works were included in the Fitzwilliam Museum's loan exhibition Drawings & Watercolours by Peter de Wint, 1979.
For a note on the artist, please see lot 45.
