拍品专文

The present drawing is an early work and dates to around 1812, when William Turner returned from London to live with his uncle in Shipton-on-Cherwell, Oxfordshire. In London he had studied under John Varley, and became one of the youngest members of the Society of Painters in Water Colours. This is probably a depiction of a village local to Shipton.
