Einstein's hands.
The poet and photographer Jaro von Tucholka contributed a number of images of celebrities' hands to the volume Hände. Eine Sammlung von Handabbildungen großer Toter und Lebender (Hamburg: Gebrüder Enoch, 1929), but the present photographs were not included there. Her portraits of hands (as also of heads and handwriting) of creative personalities featured in an exhibition at the Galerie Nierendorf in 1933.
A pair of ink prints of Einstein's hands taken by the hand-reader Marianne Raschig in April 1930 (published by her in Hand und Persönlichkeit. Einführung in das System der Handlehre (Hamburg: Enoch, 1931)) were sold by Sotheby's, 5-6 June 2013, lot 348.
