Lot Essay

Travelling 'incognito' to Florence.

Einstein will be coming to Florence with [his eldest son] Hans Albert on the 17th, before travelling on to Bologna. 'As I am in Florence "incognito", I ask you to find us a modest lodging in your neighbourhood. I am very much looking forward to our time together'. Paul Winteler must have deposited some money which did not belong to Einstein in his account in Lucerne, and this has now caused him problems with the German tax authorities.
