Albert Einstein (1879-1955). Autograph letter signed (‘Albert’) to Michele Besso, n.p., n.d. [Zurich, late April 1916].

In German, half page, 254 x 214mm. Annotated by Besso on the blank lower part of p.1 with notes apparently relating to discussions with Einstein and Heinrich Zangger and on the verso with diagrams showing flow patterns around wings and spheres (perhaps relating to Einstein’s similar diagram in his letter of 14 May 1916).

Calling to see Besso in Zurich.

A jocular note, after an unavailing attempt to find Besso at home: 'I, Albert, have with great effort got hold of your empty snail shell, after I arrived here this afternoon'. Besso is to call him at his hotel, or better still come and see him.
