Lot Essay

Struggling to begin a tribute to their friend Aurel Stodola.

Einstein is happy to write something about Stodola, though there is no external pretext for doing so: ‘I love and revere him, but don’t know how to begin. Give me a hint (Gib mir einen Wink)’; he suggests planning a ‘Jubiläum’, ‘Otherwise one cannot write something in the newspaper out of the blue’.
