Einstein has spent a week with his two sons staying with his priest-friend Camillus Brandhuber, 'and we are now on a walk along the Danube in wonderful weather, starting from Sigmaringen ... We are very happy together and have already walked tremendously'. Einstein's wife (Elsa) had been diagnosed with an infection, which in the end did not materialise, although Einstein thanks Zangger for his advice.

Hans Albert Einstein was nearly 16 at the time of this walking holiday, whilst the younger brother Eduard was nine.
