Special presentation copy from the publishers to Hawking, specially bound for the author to celebrate the books 100th appearance in the Sunday Times bestseller list. This 1990 reprint edition is bound in blue morocco, and contains a specially printed presentation label and typed letter signed from the managing director of Hawking's publisher.

Reprint. Octavo (232 x 152mm). Half-title, text-illustrations (internally in fine condition). Contemporary crushed blue morocco, lettered in gilt on upper cover, gilt decoration to spine, gilt edges, marbled endpapers, blue silk ribbon marker (fine condition), contained in a blue cloth slipcase extremities lightly soiled). Provenance: publisher’s presentation label and loosely inserted typed letter signed by Mark Barty-King, Managing Director of Bantam Press, to: – Stephen Hawking (1942-2018) – the estate of Professor Stephen Hawking.
