The surface has a yellowed varnish and an even layer of surface dirt. There is scuffing to the edges due to frame abrasion. There are horizontal cracks in the paint surface coming from the right and left edges with evident repair. There are thin horizontal cracks in the paint surface in the clouds at center and center left, transecting the mast. There are similar cracks near the feet of the figures and between the dome outline to the sun. Under UV light, there is repair to the cracks along the right edge and lower left edge. There are a few scattered dots of retouching in the upper right quadrant.
