The surface is stable and there is light surface dirt. The painting has been relined with a glue adhesive, and relaid over the panel. Areas of a fine overall craquelure have developed. Under UV light, there is retouching at the lower edge of the proper right foot, proper left ear and a small area of the underside of the torso. The two lightest parts of the torso show small lines of retouching to address separation in the craquelure. The left side of the tree trunk, the background to the left of the trunk, and spot of leaves left of the top bird show retouching. Two of the birds have retouching on or adjacent. In the area of the birds, small touches have been made to address separation related to craquelure. The area behind the yellow bird at right and flowers above show retouching. Scattered leaves and grass below the figure show retouching.
