The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The surface is stable. There is a wax reline under mount to plexiglass. There is uneven craquelure in the center and upper left. Under UV light inspection, there is retouching at the extreme edges to address frame abrasion. There is an area of retouching in the rafter above the horses at center about three inches by two inches and adjacent small areas of retouching. There are small areas and spots of retouching in the upper right corner and spots in the lower right corner. There are two areas of retouching, each about one inch square in the wall next to the grey and brown horse haunches. There are dots of retouching in the saddle and head of the groom and between the legs of the white horse. There is retouching to address a crossed 'J' shape repair in the background at upper right.
