The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

The surface is stable and there is minor surface dirt present. The canvas is unlined. There is minor scuffing at the extreme edges. Faint impressions can be seen from the cross bars and stretcher bars on all sides. There is a spot of paint loss in the sky in the upper right quadrant near the center tree, near the lower left corner, and one near the lower right corner. There are pencil marks in the sky near the right edge. Under UV light inspection there are a few small areas of retouching in the sky in the upper right quadrant. There are carefully applied retouches in the grass around the central cow and in the tree above his head. There is a line of carefully applied retouches going vertically through the central cow around his shoulder. There is some inpainting in areas of the grass at right.
