The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

This work has not been recently restored, but it is generally in good condition. The canvas has an old glue lining, which still seems to be stabilizing the paint layer. There is a slightly raised area in the dark hair of the central figure, and a small reinforcement on the lining could possibly correct the surface here. The painting is noticeably dirty. The varnish is quite dull. Some separation cracking has developed in the dark dress of the central figure.

Under ultraviolet light, retouching is visible around the raised area in the hair mentioned above. There is a 1-inch horizontal restoration to its immediate left. There are three restorations beneath the feet of the girl on the far left. There are a couple of other retouches above the head of the blonde woman on the right side.
