The surface is stable and has been glue relined. Light surface dirt is present. There is scuffing at the extreme edges due to frame abrasion. An even cracquelure has developed. Under UV light inspection, the varnish appears to have been cleaned in some areas. There is retouching at the extreme left edge and an approximately four inch band across the upper edge which flouresces less brightly. There is a half inch line of retouching in the sky above the trees at the right. There are scattered small areas of retouching in the foreground, haystack, and figures near the haystack. There are small lines of retouching in the left horse and possible retouching to the hay below the horses. There is retouching in the clothes of the principal figures which faintly flouresces. There are small retouches in the scarf, hat, and right cheek of the man. There is retouching under the chin and above the proper left eye of the woman.
