The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

This work has an old European glue lining. The painting seems to be clean, varnished, and retouched. Retouches have been added in a few spots in an effort to reduce some thinner areas of pigment. These retouches can be seen in the horse’s thigh and in a few other smaller spots where the artist used a slightly brushy technique in the lower left. Small, intermittent spots of retouching can be seen in the sky. Again, these may not address actual damage and could have been added by a restorer in order to reduce some of the artist’s looser brush strokes. No retouches can be seen in the remainder of the figure of the horse or in the dogs. Overall, this work is in very good condition.
