Image by an unknown photographer, printed on a postcard, 134 x 88mm. Inscribed on verso in Russian, dated in pencil in another hand. [With] A postcard photograph of a young woman, thought to be Vera Solovyova, in the uniform of a Sister of Mercy during the First World War.

Blok in 1913. Vera Solovyova (1894-1969) was the daughter of the railway engineer G.N. Solovyov (1865-1916): she became a pianist and musicologist, and was later director of the Pushkin Theatre Museum in 1942-44, during the siege of Leningrad.
