Dmitry Sergeyevich Merezhkovsky (1866-1941)
The Czech rights for his book on Dante. 1938
Typed letter signed ('D. Merejkovsky') to Lutetia Press, Paris, 31 May 1938.

In French. One page, 281 x 224mm.

On the Czech rights to his book on Dante. Merezhkovsky responds to an offer for the Czech translation rights for his book on Dante, explaining that he has no knowledge of the Universum agency in Prague, and that they have no authority to represent him and especially not to receive any funds on his behalf; on the other hand, Lutetia Press may deal with the publishers Kvasnicka et Hampl, who have offered 2,000 francs, on condition that they increase their offer – his prior agreement with them having been voided as they have refused to publish several of his works. If they do acquire the Czech rights to Dante, they may make 'certain cuts which may seem necessary to them for the success of the book in Czechoslovakia', though Merezhkovsky must be informed before the book goes to the press.
